Dussehra, also known as Vijayadashami, marks the triumph of good over evil by commemorating the Hindu deity Lord Rama’s victory over the ten-headed demon king Ravana.
In eastern and southern regions of India, the festival also honors Goddess Durga’s defeat of the buffalo demon Mahishasura and the conclusion of the nine-night Navratri festival.
Beyond its mythological roots, the day symbolizes righteousness (dharma), inner reflection, and the cleansing of personal vices.
